Leg Drag – From De La Riva

The Leg drag pass from De La Riva guard can be a tricky technique to pull off. Timing is what throws most BJJ practitioners off. In this video I demonstrate all of the required details to successfully pass De La Riva. The main details are as follows:

 

  • Strong base – balanced low hips while maintaining pressure on opponents guard
  • Font Control – dominate the outside leg by cupping your left hand and making a strong grip on your opponents pant leg.
  • Hip Drive – Pressure on foot that you are controlling. The goal here is to step forward and drive the hips forward
  • Drop your shoulders – After passing the foot and locking out the arm. The last detail is dropping your shoulders to your opponents chest and getting to side control with a cross face.
